Baby Shower Makings 5.0
I am absolutely loving this season in my life where everyone seems to be having babies! I love that I have the skills to make a gift that will hopefully be treasured and that is totally made with love!
One of my very good friends had her baby shower last weekend and I have been working away at this crochet ripple blanket for a good few weeks. It is a large bassinet/pram/floor sized blanket and since Baby is gender unknown then the light blue will work with either pink or blue!
I used Esther yarn from Lincraft and used a 5.5mm crochet hook. The ripple pattern is one where you do 2x3dc at the points and 2x dc3tog in the valleys with 3 dc between them. That should make sense if you can crochet! I can't remember which pattern I used but it is one of my favourites because the points are more defined.
I also used the leftover yarn and some extras to crochet this little guy. It is a pattern I have used about 4 or 5 times now and I love it. The limbs are long and lanky and great for little hands to grab.
I can't wait to meet this new baby and see my beautiful friend become a mum! It is such a great time and I hope the little bundle enjoys their presents!

Baby Shower Makings 4.0 (For my Nephew!!!!)
As I may have mentioned a few times, I am soon going to be an Aunty! Dave's sister is due in a couple of weeks and I am soooooooo excited! She is having a wee boy who is going to grow up to be forced into paying dress ups and tea parties with Addison. Can't. WAIT!
Anyway, she had her baby shower last weekend and, true to form, I got my craft on.
You may remember the Granny Square Baby Blanket I made for said nephew around Christmas time - well I had a lot of yarn left over so I decided to make more things for him out of it. A bassinet/pram sized chevron/ripple blanket and a crochet giraffe. I also made a black and white taggie with a natural wooden teething ring and I bought her a couple of pairs of reusable breast pads. I don't have an overlocker, nor can I sew perfect circles!
The giraffe got named Damian. Long story short, all toys at the baby shower got named after the couple that gave the gift. For example: Jenna and Tim = Jim.
Our couple name is Damy, but that didn't quite work so someone suggested Damian, which is perfect because Addison can stake a claim in it too! Yeah, we are weird.
My beautiful sis-in-law has so many amazing friends who care about her and it was so great to meet them/see them again and bless her little family!
We are all praying for an awesome next few weeks and a great birth. Can't wait to meet the little guy!

Crochet Giraffe
This little guy was my first adventure into the world of amigurumi - or crochet stuffed toys.
I thought I was biting off more than I could chew but luckily I could read the pattern and I think he turned out pretty well!
It was pretty fiddly making the tiny horns and it took a bit of effort to sew the pieces together. My favourite part was trying to get the stuffing down the skinny arms and legs!
I used Emmas free pattern over at I Love Buttons By Emma.
I had caught the ami bug and as soon as this guy was done I started on another. This time in a solid colour with white accents. I accidentally changed up the pattern a bit, making the neck longer and thinner and the head shorter. Pattern following is not my strong point, I tend to pick up and drop stitches like there is tomorrow but I wing it until it looks right. Which is why knitting is not for me.
They are already best of friends.
My next attempt is going to be a version of Sonic the Hedgehog. Winging this one too. Wish me luck!
